London Gatwick, Stansted, Luton and City: from the airport into town

Express trains, Thameslink, the DLR or the bus – the best way into central London from the city's other airports.

Your options

  • Gatwick: Gatwick Express non-stop to Victoria (about half an hour), Thameslink to London Bridge, Farringdon and St Pancras, Southern also to Victoria.
  • Stansted: Stansted Express to Liverpool Street in just under an hour, plus buses to Stratford and central London.
  • Luton: the DART shuttle takes a few minutes to Luton Airport Parkway station, then Thameslink or East Midlands Railway to St Pancras.
  • London City: the smallest airport is right in the Docklands – the DLR gets you to Bank in the City in just over 20 minutes.

Tips

  • Pay contactless: for the DLR (London City) and trains from Gatwick just tap your card, iPhone or Apple Watch on the reader – use the same device in and out. TfL's fare finder shows whether contactless also works from Stansted or Luton.
  • Book express trains early: Gatwick Express and Stansted Express tickets are often cheaper online than at the machine.
