Your options

All information without guarantee, as of November 2026. Terms and offers change regularly – only the information on the providers' official websites is binding.

  • AirTrain + subway: the AirTrain runs from all terminals to Jamaica (for subway lines E, J and Z) or Howard Beach (line A). Cheap, but with a change.
  • AirTrain + Long Island Rail Road: from Jamaica to Penn Station or Grand Central in about 20 minutes – faster than the subway.
  • Taxi: yellow cabs charge a flat fare to Manhattan, plus surcharges, tolls and tip. Only get in at the official taxi rank.
  • Ride-hailing and transfers: designated pick-up points at every terminal.

Tips

  • Paying: you can pay for the AirTrain and subway contactless with card or phone (OMNY); the AirTrain fare is paid when leaving at Jamaica or Howard Beach.
  • Entry: you need an ESTA before travelling to the US.
  • Avoid touts: don't accept rides from people approaching you in the arrivals hall.

How Voynera helps

After landing, Voynera's arrival briefing shows the route and travel time to your accommodation – and doesn't suggest a transfer if you've already booked one or your card includes ride credit.
