Your options

  • S-Bahn S8 and S9: from the regional station under Terminal 1 – about a quarter of an hour to the main station, then on to Hauptwache and Konstablerwache.
  • Long-distance station: ICE and IC trains stop right next to Terminal 1 – Cologne, Stuttgart, Munich or Berlin without going through the city.
  • Terminal 3 (since April 2026): it has no station of its own. Take the train to Terminal 1 and change to the driverless Sky Line – it runs about every 2 minutes and takes 8 to 10 minutes.
  • Bus: the X77 links Terminal 3 with Gateway Gardens every 15 minutes; other lines run towards Darmstadt, Neu-Isenburg and Groß-Gerau.
  • Taxi: at every terminal – usually around 20 minutes into the city, depending on traffic.

Tips

  • Which terminal? Lufthansa and Star Alliance airlines fly from Terminal 1. Since 2026, Terminal 3 handles Emirates, Qatar Airways, Cathay Pacific, British Airways, Delta, American Airlines, Air France, KLM, Iberia, Finnair and easyJet among others. Condor follows in summer 2027 – if in doubt, check your ticket.
  • Allow extra time for Terminal 3: train to Terminal 1 plus the Sky Line – plan 15 minutes more than you used to.
  • Deutschland-Ticket is valid on S-Bahn and regional trains, not on the ICE.
  • Changing terminals: the Sky Line links Terminals 1, 2 and 3 – the operator says connections of about 45 minutes are possible.
  • Lounges: which lounge you can use with status or a card is in our lounge guide.
