Your options

All information without guarantee, as of November 2026. Terms and offers change regularly – only the information on the providers' official websites is binding.

  • S-Bahn S1 and S8: together about every 10 minutes, around 40 minutes to the main station. The S8 runs via Ostbahnhof and also at night, the S1 via Moosach.
  • Lufthansa Express Bus: every 20 minutes to the main station (around 45 minutes) with a stop in Schwabing – comfortable with big luggage.
  • ÜFEX Airport Express: direct regional trains from Freising, Landshut, Regensburg and Nuremberg – handy if you're not heading into Munich at all.
  • Taxi: the airport is far out of town – the ride into the city is long and expensive.

Tips

  • Day ticket instead of single: if you travel from the airport and around town the same day, an MVV day ticket for all zones is usually worth it – the station machines show the right one.
  • Deutschland-Ticket is valid on S-Bahn, U-Bahn, tram and bus, but not on the Lufthansa Express Bus.
  • S1 or S8? Just take the next one – both go to the main station.

How Voynera helps

After landing, Voynera's arrival briefing shows the route and travel time to your accommodation – and doesn't suggest a transfer if you've already booked one or your card includes ride credit.
