With the Platinum Card, Priority Pass gets you into a huge number of lounges worldwide. But American Express's own lounges are in a different league: a restaurant instead of a sandwich buffet, cocktails from the bar, quiet places to work. There are now three of them in Europe.
Amsterdam Schiphol – the newest
- Opened: on 17 September 2026 – the first Centurion Lounge in mainland Europe.
- Location: Lounge 50, second floor between piers E and F – for departures outside the Schengen area, e.g. to London, the US or Asia.
- Opening hours: 6:00 am to 9:30 pm.
- What to expect: Dutch design and local art, seasonal food, a Blue Roast coffee bar and cocktails with a local twist.
Important: if you're flying within the Schengen area (for example to Germany), you can't get in after passport control.
Stockholm Arlanda – a lounge with a restaurant concept
- Name: officially “American Express Lounge by Pontus Frithiof” – named after the Stockholm restaurateur, with the focus on food.
- Location: Terminal 5 at the Marketplace between gate areas D and F, after security.
- Opening hours: daily 5:00 am to 7:30 pm, breakfast until 11 am, kitchen orders until 7 pm.
- Guests: according to Stockholm Airport, one guest with the Platinum Card, two with the Centurion Card.
London Heathrow – Terminal 3
- Location: Terminal 3, Area A after security, Level 2 – only accessible if you're departing from Terminal 3.
- Opening hours: 5:30 am to 9:00 pm.
- What to expect: a seasonal menu, signature cocktails, quiet workspaces and a tea cart.
Getting from Heathrow into town is covered in our Heathrow guide.
Access rules
- Platinum or Centurion Card and a boarding pass for a flight the same day – the names must match.
- No more than three hours before departure: Centurion Lounges won't let you in earlier.
- Not after landing: arriving passengers are only admitted with a same-day connecting flight.
- Guests: rules vary by lounge and card. Guests beyond the free allowance pay an entry fee – in Amsterdam, for example, €45 per adult. Guests must be on the same flight as you.
- Space permitting: there may be waiting times when it's busy.
All the other ways into a lounge – Priority Pass, status or a day pass – are in our lounge guide.
Our tip
Build the lounge into your trip: get to the airport a little earlier, eat in peace and sleep on the plane instead. And if the trip ends at a hotel from Amex Fine Hotels + Resorts, a Centurion Lounge is the perfect start.
